LEADING LADIES
In Celebration of International Women’s Day

In the lead up to International Women’s Day, we shine a light on the female designers who have produced some of our most iconic collections. These women helped shape Georg Jensen into the company and brand we are today, producing unique and bold jewellery for strong and independent women across the globe.

Jacqueline Rabun

To introduce the American, and now London-based jeweller, Jacqueline Rabun, as a designer, seems somewhat simplistic. However, when considering her exceptional work — its organic forms and architectural moments; its rich, underlying narratives and intellectual approach to adornment - it is clear that Rabun consistently elevates the ancient craft of jewellery making to an undeniable art form. It is little wonder that Rabun has become one of the most admired contemporary jewellers of our time, and Georg Jensen is proud to consider her a long-term collaborator.

Torun, as she came to be known, was the most accomplished Swedish, female smith of the postwar era, but as much as her craft it was her very being - her vibrant and untraditional life – that made her a remarkable artist and woman. Torun was a voice of liberation and equality and multiculturalism of all sorts – women’s liberation, social liberation, racial equality, cultural diversity and much more. When Torun began collaborating with Georg Jensen in 1967, she brought with her a fresh, invigorating perspective and brought ground breaking designs to the brand.

Regitze Overgaard

An innate love of the forms and shapes found in nature combined with her sense of minimalism have made Danish-born Regitze Overgaard a pioneer of modern organic jewellery design. The elegant and fluid lines of her work show a sophisticated understanding both of the jeweller’s craft and a woman’s body. This is important in any jewellery–the interaction of the metal with its wearer. In Overgaard’s works, the form of the piece respects the natural curves of the body and accentuates it with a sense of style, elegance and individuality. Overgaard’s collection betray a keen eye for the sublime forms that exist in nature.
